In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
In vitro fertilization is the process of artificial fertilization of an egg by a sperm outside the body. IVF is an important treatment method used when other assisted reproductive methods have failed in the treatment of infertility. In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
What is in vitro fertilization (IVF)?
It is an infertility treatment method that increases the chance of pregnancy in couples who have little or no chance of conceiving naturally. By using this method, egg collection is performed after the female egg cells (oocyte) are developed with hormone drugs. The collected eggs are fertilized in the embryology laboratory with sperm taken from the male. Pregnancy is ensured by choosing the healthiest embryo among the embryos obtained as a result of this process and placing them in the uterus of the woman.
In Vitro Fertilization Treatment Risks
The probability of multiple pregnancy may increase because the drugs used in the vaccination treatment may cause the development of more than one follicle in the ovaries. In addition, although rare, the drugs used in the treatment may cause hypersensitivity or unresponsiveness to the drugs in some people, such situations delay the treatment to the next menstrual period. In Vitro Fertilization Procedure
Ovarian Stimulation and Enhancement
Ovarian stimulation, which is considered to be one of the first procedures performed in assisted reproductive treatments, is the process of helping to form healthy and fertile egg cells by supplementing with various drugs in order to increase the chance of pregnancy. The ovaries are stimulated by drugs, thereby healthier follicles are obtained during the ovulation period. After the treatment starts, a control examination is made at regular intervals, and the number and size of the developing follicles are controlled by vaginal ultrasonography. Depending on the condition of the ovaries observed in the ultrasound, a blood estrogen analysis may be required. The time required for the stimulation of eggs varies from person to person, but the average is about 10 to 11 days.
